Serve

Last Updated: 02/19/12

During the worship services each Sunday, you will have the opportunity to hear from and learn more about a Christ Church ministry partner serving in Memphis and around the world. Check back weekly for more info about the current week's Serving Spotlight!

This Week's Serving Spotlight, February 19 • Join an International Missions Team • During this week's Serving Spotlight, we learned more about two upcoming opportunities to serve on one of our upcoming international teams. The sponsored opportunity (serving through a long-term, committed ministry partner with Christ Church) is with a team to Zambia, serving on a teaching and praying team with International Leadership Institute (ILI); the connectional opportunity (a team supported by, yet not organized and planned by Christ Church) is with a team serving alongside Shepherd's Field Children's Village, loving Chinese children orphaned with special needs.

Scroll down to the "Serving Internationally" section of this page to learn more about these opportunities!

Want to learn more? Contact Eric (EricA@cumcmemphis.org)
or Bob (BobW@cumcmemphis.org), 202-6050.

Sponsored Opportunity • Zambia/International Leadership Institute (April 18 - 29) • The International Leadership Institute (ILI) is committed to the training and equipping of pastors and other church leaders around the globe. On this trip, a small team of 2-4 people will join the ILI of South Africa (ILISA), which partners with the Pilgrim Wesleyan Church. Our team will help teach and pray diligently, on the ground, during this conference. Will you join them? Contact Bob W. or Eric A. at 202-6050.

Connectional Opportunity • Shepherd's Field Children's Village (April 12-21) • Join this team who will serve alongside the children of SFCV, orphaned because of their special needs. You will gain an awareness of the vast needs of orphans, particularly the unique situation in China. You will support the staff there by interacting and leading special activities with the children, possibly participating in special projects needed at the time. The approximate cost of the trip is $1800-2000. Contact Stephanie Harding at stephanie@myhardings.com to learn more.

Connectional Opportunity • Spring Break trip with Rice and Beans Ministries (March 10-17) • During Memphis area schools' Spring Break week, your family can serve together through this connectional opportunity with Rice and Beans Ministries in Costa Rica. This ministry partners with the local church in their outreach, which includes meeting basic needs and building long-term, meaningful relationships to share the truth of the Gospel. To learn more about this ministry and trip details, visit their website or click here to email trip leader, Marie Curry.

Are you wondering what a connectional opportunity is? Read the Serving Spotlight information at the top of this page or contact Eric at 202-6050 to learn more.

Tutor at Refugee Empowerment Program (Mon-Thurs, 3-7pm, varied time slots) • When a child arrives in the United States as a refugee, they are placed in a grade and classroom that almost never matches their true skill level. Immediately, they are behind in their studies. Give one day a week to the students of REP, whether elementary, middle or high school students, and help them grow the skills they need to thrive in their classrooms! Contact Adam Webster at 682-4270, awebster@ducks.org.

(**See below for information about nursery availability when serving during daytime hours.)

**The nursery is available for help you as you serve with our ministry partners.

Nursery hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00am – 12:00pm in addition to the regular Sunday and Wednesday hours.
