School of the Rock

Wednesdays thru April 5  | 6-7:30 p.m.

 

An exciting new session of School of the Rock is here for PreK4 (4 years)-5th grade. Children learn not only about the activity they choose but, most importantly, how to glorify God with what they learn. Contact Danny Shivers, (901) 261-2168.

  • Check-in begins at 5:45 p.m. on the 3rd floor of Wilson/Ross, east end. Only the west entrance of the building will be open. Children may enter classrooms at 5:45 p.m. after they have checked in.
  • Class begins at 6 p.m. & ends at 7:30 p.m. Be sure to pick up your child no later than 7:45 p.m.
  • Parents can stay for Christ Academy while their children are at School of the Rock.
  • We will have a showcase presentation on April 5. 

 

Class Descriptions spring 2017

Space is limited for some classes and will be filled on a first-come, first–served basis.

Art I: THIS IS THE ONLY ACTIVITY FOR CHILDREN AGE 4 & 5 (not in kindergarten).
This major is for Pre-K4 & Pre-K5. Children will create interesting projects based on Bible themes using the fundamentals of art in paint, sculpture and/or textiles.

Art II: This major is for kindergarten-2nd grade. Children will create interesting projects based on Bible themes using the fundamentals of art in paint, sculpture and/or textiles.

Art III: This major is for 3rd-5th grade. Children will create interesting projects based on Bible themes using the fundamentals of art in paint, sculpture and/or textiles.

Theater Arts: This major is for kindergarten-5th grade. Children will present Bible themes and share God’s love as they learn about and implement fundamental theater and drama techniques.

Creative Cooks: This major is for 2nd-5th grade. Children will make and eat their own creative concoctions while they discover more about God’s own creation.

Breakin Dance: This major is for kindergarten-5th grade. Lots of high energy in this class where children will explore their ability to move with the groove and discover unique gifts that God gave them.

Lego Animation: This major is for 3rd-5th grade. Children will use various methods of stop-animation to illustrate Bible stories, e.g., Lego animation.

Outdoor Adventure Arts: This major is for 3rd-5th grade. Children will explore and learn about God's fabulous creation of our world through outdoor activities.
