Spiritual Roadmap Assessment

This section focuses on our response to the Gospel through the spiritual disciplines.

1. Read the following and check the one that most closely describes your prayer life.
   • Prayer is not a part of my life, but I see the importance and would like to be more faithful in my response to the Gospel.
   • I pray regularly for my own needs.
   • I pray daily for my own needs and the needs of others.
   • Prayer is a critical aspect of my relationship with God. Therefore, I faithfully set aside time throughout the day to talk to Him about decisions I make, the people I know, the lessons I am learning, even people I do not know.
   • Prayer has become like breathing. I cannot make it through the day unless I have spent time alone with God praying for the church, the city, the poor and the persecuted as well as the needs in my life and the lives of those I know.

   • I am struggling to see the validity of the Bible. I'm not convinced that it's as valuable as everyone in the church believes.
   • The Bible reveals the nature and character of God, and I am starting to see the relevance more clearly.

   • I have heard about spiritual disciplines but am not sure what they are. I would like to know more.
   • I practice 2-3 basic spiritual disciplines on a regular basis. For example: prayer, personal Bible study, journaling and solitude because they focus my attention on the Gospel.
   • I practice multiple spiritual disciplines weekly. For example: prayer, personal Bible study, journaling, solitude, self-denial, scripture memorization, Sabbath, fasting, etc. Without them I quickly lose focus on the Gospel.
   • I faithfully and intentionally practice multiple spiritual disciplines daily. Not only do I practice these on my own, but I also practice them with others. Without these disciplines I quickly lose focus on the Gospel.

This section focuses on our response to the Gospel through our involvement in worship and Community Life Groups.

   • I attend worship services on holidays and when my schedule permits.
   • I attend worship services 1-2 times a month.
   • I attend worship services 3-4 times a month.
   • I attend worship services every week and even attend other churches when I am out of town because I believe corporate worship is essential.

   • I am still trying to understand why it's so important to gather together with other believers on a weekly basis.
   • I can worship adequately without attending church.
   • I believe that worshipping with others believers is a vital part of Christian discipleship.
   • Worshipping with other believers is a critical part of Christian discipleship. Very little keeps me from attending because I believe I need corporate worship as a time of renewal and refreshment in the gospel.
   • Worshipping with other believers is a critical part of Christian discipleship. In fact, I will rearrange my schedule, or say no to certain activities, because corporate worship grounds me in the gospel. I'll even make it a priority when I am out of town on vacation or other trips.

   • I'm not really sure why meeting with other believers outside of worship services is all that important.
   • I'm open to the idea of meeting with other Christians outside of the worship services on Sunday, but I still do not understand why it is important.
   • Bible stories and characters are interesting, but I am not very confident in the whole meaning of the Bible. It is helpful to have someone teach me the meaning of the scriptures.
   • Studying the Bible is a critical aspect of my faith. I prefer a large group setting where a teacher expands my knowledge through lectures.
   • I believe it is critical to study the Bible with other believers who desire to learn more about the Gospel and the implications. I need to reflect on the Bible with other believers so their thoughts might shape my understanding. I will rearrange my schedule to be a part of a Bible Study group during the week and even spend time on homework assignments. I realize that if I am not there for the gathering, then the group is not complete.
   • I realize that God has grounded me in the Gospel and a solid biblical worldview of creation, sin, redemption and glory. I've reached a place where I grow the most by sharing what I've learned with other believers and I am actively discipling another person or group.

1. Read the following and check the one that most closely describes your view of giving/tithing.
   • I have no idea why I should give to the church. I'm not sure what this entire tithing thing is all about but would like to know more.
   • I give as I am able.
   • I believe that a faithful response to the Gospel is to give God 10% of my income through the local church, and I am moving toward that goal.
   • I believe that a faithful response to the Gospel is to give God 10% of my income, but I also believe I can use part of that 10% to support several other Gospel-centered organizations in our city or the world.
   • I give at least 10% of my income to my church before I give to other organizations.
   • I believe that a faithful response to the Gospel is to view everything I own as God's, and He entrusts it to me. In addition to giving 10% to the local church, I prayerfully ask God to show me how to use all my financial resources for the Kingdom. My greatest desire is for God to be glorified, and everything I own can be used by Him to minister to others.

This section focuses on our response to the Gospel by using our gifts to serve the needs of others.

   • I'm not sure what spiritual gifts are but would like to know more about them.
   • I know my spiritual gifts and find ways to use them to serve others when I have time.
   • I know my gifts and faithfully use them regularly to serve others even if it becomes inconvenient to me.
   • I know my gifts and faithfully use them to serve others even if it becomes inconvenient to me because they are a natural part of my life. In fact, I'll make personal sacrifices to use my gifts in an effort to make someone else's need my own because that is what Jesus did for me.
2. Read the following and check the one that most closely describes your view of missions.
   • I'm not sure it's important for lay people to be involved in local or international missions.
   • I have a tremendous love for people and would love to be involved in local or international missions as my schedule permits.
   • I have a tremendous love for people and believe it's the call of every Christian to be actively engaged in local or international missions. In fact, I am actively finding ways to participate in local or international missions even if it requires personal sacrifices.
   • I have a tremendous love for people and believe it's the call of every Christian to actively give his or her life away. In fact, I view everywhere I go as a mission field. I see my family, my neighborhood and my job as the mission field. Not only do I find ways to participate in local and international missions but I actively invite others to get involved too.

This section focuses on our response to the Gospel by sharing our faith with others.

1. Read the following and check the one that most closely describes your view of evangelism.
   • I'm not sure it's important for all people to share their faith. Some people have that gift while others do not. I'll leave that to the professionals.
   • I believe it's important to share my faith with others, but I'm not sure I have the knowledge or courage. If I did I would look for more chances to tell others about Jesus.
   • I believe it's important to share my faith with others, and I feel confident I can share my personal testimony and even respond to different objections with people I know and do not know.
   • How can I not tell others about Jesus because of what He has done for me? I find it natural to engage people in conversation about faith and feel comfortable dealing with questions and objections. It's not something I have to "work" at because it naturally happens when I engage friends who do not believe.
