Give all your worries and cares to God, for He cares about what happens to you. (1 Peter 5:7)

As we enter into a relationship with God through prayer, we learn to listen to God’s voice and experience his presence. Sharing our concerns and entrusting others to His love, deepens our relationship with God

Prayer requests can be submitted to the Prayer Ministry office in the following ways:

  • Leave them on our Prayer Lifeline by calling (901) 685-8668.

  • E-mail them to

  • Submit them online to The Upper Room Living Prayer Center, and they will be prayed for by people around the world. Go to, and then click on “Request Prayer.”

All prayer requests are strictly confidential.

Men’s Intercessory Prayer Breakfast

Every Friday morning the men of the church and community meet at 6:45 a.m. in Seabrook Hall for breakfast ($6), a short devotional and intercessory prayer. The prayer time concludes by 8 a.m.  Come pray with us!

Participants will receive e-prayer requests throughout the week as they come into the prayer office. These may be prayed for at home or at any location.

Prayer for the Services (Prayer Intercessors)

Intercessors commit to pray for the service during the service two Sundays each year. This prayer time enhances the services and blesses the people in the congregation, as well as those interceding.

Prayer Companions

With our clergy’s invitation, pray with people who want special prayer after worship services. Prayer Companions will stand outside the prayer rooms in Seabrook Hall and the Sanctuary, wearing a purple ribbon.

24-Hour Prayer Lifeline

Anyone can call the Prayer Lifeline, 685-8668, and submit a request. Volunteers access the requests called into the Lifeline from any phone and pray at home for these concerns. They commit to pray for one hour each week for a year.

Weekday Prayer in Wilson Chapel

Anyone may come to Wilson Chapel each weekday morning at 7 a.m. and pray for Christ United Methodist Church and personal concerns. Wilson Chapel will be open and available for prayer all morning and usually throughout the day. Parents may also pray in Reeves Chapel with their children if they desire to pray out loud. If Wilson Chapel is occupied, the Sanctuary, Seabrook Hall, Reeves Chapel or the Prayer Room will be available.

National and International Day of Prayer

Join others on the first Thursday in May and the first Sunday in November to pray for the world, our nation and its leaders. Service times to be announced.

Hearts FOR Hospitality

Hearts FOR Hospitality is an ancient practice with a new name. The mission of our greeting ministry is to offer a warm “Christ-like” welcome to all guests and members and to create a culture of care for all. We want to make it easier for new people to experience God’s warmth, help and presence–to feel Christ’s invitation into our family. We also want our present membership to feel their weekly value to their Christ Church family. This ministry calls our entire congregation to help cover our campus with kindness and the spirit of care. If you are interested in serving as a volunteer on our Hearts FOR Hospitality Team, call Dave Lanthier at (901) 568-9542.
