“We have become increasingly aware that many of our trips limit church members and families because of distance, time or cost,” said Eric Angel, Director of International Missions. “With a lower trip cost and less travel time, we hope that this opportunity will allow for more church members and families to experience life transformation through serving Christ in an international setting.”
Who: This trip is designed for families who desire a greater challenge and transformation in their lives. They live out their faith by serving others in need. Families will learn together what it means to be a missionary in a third world country as well as write support letters and participate in three mandatory prep meetings.
What: CUMC families and staff will minister among the migrant farm workers and people of Ensenada, Mexico with YUGO Ministries (www.yugo.org). The staff and missionaries will provide evangelistic opportunities as well as outreach contacts through networking with various local Christian ministries & churches. This team will use a wide variety of creative methods to present the Gospel of Jesus Christ, including home construction and VBS -- drama, puppets, music, clowns, sports, personal testimonies and preaching through a translator.
When: The team will depart on Saturday, June 5 and return to Memphis on Sunday, June 13.
Where: We will work in Ensenada, Mexico, where each year thousands of people from all over Mexico and Central America move into the Northern Baja area, known as Ensenada, Mexico. Many are poor Indians who have migrated to work in the fertile farms and fields located in Baja. Families who participate in this Baja Outreach will minister to these people.
Cost: Estimated breakdown of the trip cost per person:
