..Who gave himself for our sins to deliver us from the present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father, to whom be the glory for ever and ever. Amen. (Galatians 1:4, 5)
If you're like me, you looked at that verse or verses like that for years with either confusion or indifference treating it as one more verse to skim through to get to the 'other' stuff. But this statement is so important, so practical and so pivotal to the launching of this book and addressing the conditions of our hearts that Martin Luther said in his commentary of Galatians, "These words are very thunderclaps from heaven against all kinds of (self) righteousness." Why did Paul start with this and why was it his thesis for what everything else in the book of Galatians was built on? What was it about this verse that confronted the people of Galatia, Martin Luther and scores of other men and women in the faith to be shaken to their core? These questions and more we will start addressing on Wednesdays, April 7-28 from 6-7:30 p.m. in Seabrook Hall. >>Register now and bring your friends.
