Christ Feeds is a food packaging ministry of Christ United Methodist Church. Its purpose is to bring people together to feed the hungry of the world. Christ Feeds provides food relief in two ways: for urgent situations such as when a natural disaster occurs and for on-going food needs for our mission partners in Zambia, China or wherever the need.
Food Packaging Program
- Teams of 10-12 people fill, weigh, seal, and box bags of food.
- Each bag consists of rice, soy, dried vegetables and vitamins.
- A single bag of food provides a meal for six children or four adults.
- A single meal costs 25 cents: 20 cents pays for the food and five cents pays for shipping.
- Bagged meals are boxed and shipped to those in need.
800-900 volunteers needed to donate an hour and a half to package food
Choose from six shifts:
8-9:30 a.m.
9:15-10:45 a.m.
10:30 a.m.-Noon
12:15-1:45 p.m.
1:30-3 p.m.
2:45-4:15 p.m.
Open to individuals, families and groups
Children 5-7 will participate in a special art project to create cards and letters that will be packed with the meals. Individuals 8 years and up will participate on a food packaging team.
Registration
All volunteers 8 years and older are asked to donate $25 to participate.
- $25 pays for 100 meals.
- The maximum amount a family will pay is $100.

>>Online registration opens soon. Online registration requires payment by credit card. The computer in the church library is available for those who do not have access to a computer at home or work. If you cannot register online, call the church office at 683-3521.
Registration ends Sunday, September 26, 2010 at midnight. Register early to ensure your choice of shifts.
Event Worker Opportunities
Event worker opportunities are available on Saturday, October 2 in addition to or in lieu of serving as a packaging volunteer. Shift times include working:
- Saturday morning, 7a.m.-Noon
- Saturday afternoon, 11:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.;
- or you may also choose to work the entire day.

Donations & Sponsorships
Total cost of 100,000 meals: $25,000
The $25 donation from each packaging volunteer will not cover the entire cost of this program; therefore, we are asking individuals and businesses to consider making a donation.

Business Sponsorships
Christ Feeds is an excellent way for businesses to participate in a worthwhile charitable activity and promote teamwork among employees. If your business would like to sponsor Christ Feeds, there are five sponsorship opportunities available. With each opportunity, there is an associated number of individuals who may participate in the packaging event for free.
- A gift of $250 feeds 1000 starving children and will help 10 individuals participate in the packaging program.
